Funny piar

0. Introduction.
Hello, and how is your Tuesday going?! I hope it's SUPER like mine! In
fact, I'm willing to bet if you're an American this IS a Super Tuesday
for you too!
And if you're not an American, then of course EVERY Tuesday is Super,
because you don't have to worry about voting, your government will take
care of that for you. Except if you're French, because I hear they DO
vote, but at least you don't have to worry about working, your
government will take care of THAT for you.
I jest, I love ALL French workers! From the most convoluted-plotted
filmmaker to the shortest-skirted maid! And I KNOW we're not the only
country that votes.. what is this, 1789?!
I'm a bit of a disenfranchised voter myself. I've never been much for
either of the main parties (I think I'm probably closest to a
Libertarian?), and really, I don't like voting for politicians at all!
They're all a bunch of strangers I've never met. Yuck! And it's soooo
stressful always trying to pick the one everybody else is going to vote
for. I'd hate to waste my vote on a LOSER.
But one thing I _DO_ like about voting, at least in California:
PROPOSITIONS!
For example, did you know that right now you can vote $100 for the
Boston Celtics to win the NBA Finals and you're GUARANTEED $110 back?
I'd like to see Obama or Hillary stand behind a campaign promise like
that!
But seriously.
Propositions aren't ONLY about gambling. For example, in California
today, people are voting on Propositions 94, 95, 96, and 97, which are
to allow the Pechanga, Morongo, Sycuan, and Agua Caliente tribes to
operate 5,500, 5,500, 3,000, and 3,000 more slot machines,
respectively.
I know you're not supposed to give away who you voted for, but what the
heck, we're all family!
I hedged my bets and voted yes on 94, no on 95, yes on 96, and no on
97.

1. Sorry About the Billing!
Um yes. Let's just put that behind us now and look to the future! A
bold
future led by McCain/Romney/Clinton/Obama/Jones where one can go to the
Pechanga or Sycuan casinos and know they will no longer need to wait in
line for Double Diamond.
And NOT a timid future where one isn't sure how much DreamHost will
accidentally bill their credit card for zillions of dollars randomly.

2. New! Easy WordPress One-Click!
Enough with the chit-chat! We've made it through the "first 100 days"
of
this newsletter, and it's about time we got into the new chit.
As dumbed-down as we already made our one-click installs, it seems,
like
politics, there's always sufficient demand to make it even dumber.
Which is why we now have "easy mode" for our one-click installs,
currently available only for WordPress and currently "BETA":
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=goodies.installer
When you do "easy mode", you'll be using a fully-hosted version of
WordPress as opposed to getting files installed into your own web
space.
This fully-hosted version WILL use your own MySQL database though,
which
you'll have full control of. Although you can still pick from over 50
themes and enable some plugins we have installed, you won't be able to
customize the themes or install extra plugins.
However, you also won't have to worry about managing your installation
at all.. we'll automatically handle all upgrades and it's now on US to
make sure your WordPress blog is always working and fast and correctly
configured (so long as you don't go mucking directly in your database)!
(In fact, "easy" WordPress one-clicks are ALREADY upgraded to 2.3.3!)
You still get the installation at any sub-domain of yours you'd like
and
of course there are no ads or anything of THAT ilk.
Also, "easy mode" is cool because ALL you do is pick a sub-domain and
in
less than 17 seconds you're ready to blog!

3. New! Mongrel for Ruby on Rails!
I took my dog to the polls this morning. He voted for Ron Paul. Then he
pooped in the ballot box. It was embarrassing.
On the plus side, he inspired me to afterwards add Mongrel support to
our proxy panel on the bus ride into work:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=domain.proxy
Not too shabby! Not too shaggy! By the way, Mongrel in this context
refers to the best friend of Ruby on Rails, not of man. And if you want
to use this Mongrel thing for your Ruby on Rails application, you've
got
to have DreamHost PS, which in this context refers to Private Server,
not the part at the end of the newsletter where you learn how to
unsubscribe:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=vserver.provision
########################################################################
4. New! Delete Unused Promo Codes!
Do you ever wish you hadn't done something? I can't really think of any
times myself. Ooooh, except maybe ONCE, when I typed "2008-12-31"
instead of "2007-12-31" and accidentally overbilled all my formerly
Happy DreamHost customers close to ten million dollars.
But, maybe YOU are not as perfect as ME, and have done something REALLY
terrible, like say, created a DreamHost promo code that never ended up
getting used and now really annoys you by cluttering up your Rewards
area at:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=home.rew
?
Well, you're in luck, because now you can undo that horrible, horrible
mistake, and DELETE unused promo codes! I understand that not everybody
is man enough to stand by their mistakes, especially the ones that you
can't undo or hide.
########################################################################
5. New Charities!
Here's a PROPOSITION for you... rather than sulking over all the money
we accidentally TOOK out of your credit card, why not WILLINGLY GIVE it
to us and we'll MATCH it and give it to a charity such as:
http://www.kiddskids.com/
or even:
http://www.mindinstitute.net/
Which are the two new charities at our "Give to Charity" page:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=home.charity
The last two we had only raised $750 from 26 people over the last three
months (which we've now matched), less than .01% of the amount
accidentally rebilled from everybody in just one day in January!

6. DHSOTM
In case today is not a Super Tuesday for you, but you've still got that
urge to throw your vote away, don't forget our DreamHost Site of the
Month contest, which was interestingly won by a WordPress themes site
this month!
http://www.freeminders.org/
I was so excited, I immediately started checking it out for themes we
could add to our default install for the new "easy mode", only to
realize the site is all in Japanese or German or Hebrew or something.
Since I don't read those three languages, I had no choice but to
abandon
my mission. Please people, do a better job with your votes next time:

Just hanging with the chads,
Josh Jones
P.S. This ain't no Private Server, this is the Post Script. The Post
Script that is notorious for telling you to visit:

if you want to unsubscribe.
